Custom Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say yes. A 5' tank is kinda small for an aro of any type...I have seen some pretty big Asians that would be pretty cramped in there.

Since people seem to be throwing out their favorite calculators, here's mine: http://boonedocks.net/fishtank/ftweb.php

In addition to water volume, it calculates water weight, weight of aquarium materials at a given thickness (glass or acrylic) and total weight, among other stuff. At the size you will be going, make sure your floors can handle the weight. Looking forward to seeing your setup.

Thanks for that link. I was sort of thinking aro would be pushing it too, unless it's a short body asian, but I don't like those too much. The estimated weight is around 2,700lbs, but the aquarium will be going in the basement, and aside from on top of tile flooring, it's pretty much going to be sitting on the house foundation.

Black aro will b good for a long time, stay away from mono bass and tems IMO they are the quickest growing.

Thanks, but I don't want to house anything temporarily in this tank; that's what my smaller tanks are for. If it's going in here, it needs to be permanent. I was thinking either orinocensis, or kelberi.

I'd personally go acrylic on something that size. Did you look at having that priced out? I know a couple places that will do a matching stand/top/whatever you want.

I don't really know anywhere around here that does acrylic, but I could imagine that being very expensive. Is the place you know located in ontario, or canada at least. I don't really want to get anything this big shipped, it would probably cost too much.
