any more updates on these? How many did you end up keeping?

now i got nothing to share on updates right now. very slow going on these guys for me. i currently have kept about 20. i kept good ones inside and the rest went to the pond for the summer. of the 8 or so i kept inside there is 3 faders. looks like 6 of those might be females. their sizes are varied from 2.5-4inches now.

as for the one pictured on this thread. it's one of the largest kept inside so far. fins are filling in and tail has spread out more. no change on kok development yet. still hasn't shown any signs of egg laying. so, who knows on sex, really.

Thanks for the update. I'd like to see some of the others if you can get pictures of them. I saw the video of the pond it was sweet. I'd assume when you pull everything out for winter there will be some pics?

Do you plan on keeping them all? If not I'd be interested in some of the females you bred. Especially if you have a faded female you'd be willing to sell. I will need it to breed with my ILC gold base. Maybe I can even trade you a male. I've got about 5 males to every female I have.

Your welcome. I will try to get pics of what comes out of the pond this year. I tried last year and it didn't turn out to well. I'll be pulling the fish very soon.

i do plan on culling most prolly soon. keeping the best of the best for further research. I will prolly be keeping most the faders. I think there is one male in the pond, but not sure. I will keep you in mind for a trade if i decide to get rid of any females. Maybe we can work something out on a breeding group or club... Maybe just for us midwesters. I'd like to get a strain going possibly with a couple other guys near me.

I'm hoping for you LOL. I guess you have to bulk it up and make it really fat first to get it to lay eggs.

haha yeah keeping my hopes up. do you like this fish? i'm gonna try to get it into it's own tank for solo development very soon. to me it appears female. hows it look to you?

Yeah I like it. It's really unique. I'm noticing it doesn't have as vibrant colors as most flowerhorn but it has a lot of its own cool features to it. The fins on this fish are one of its best features. As it gets bigger its colors are only going to get better to. It looks like a female to me also. Keep your fingers crossed because if it is you have something awesome to help develop another new strain of your own.

I'd be very interested in seeing it crossed with a texas or some type of hybrid you don't see to often.
