Somethings not right. Its either your test kit or bio-filter. Your liquid reading of nitrite is .3, but your test strip reading is 0?? An established tank should have no readings of nitrite or ammonia. But I'm still sticking to my guns of a bacterial bloom. Which is still visibly present and has not been cycled through your bio-filter because you killed off much of your benificial bacteria............And now that I look at the pic you posted more closely. Is that food floating on the tank surface? That may have something to do with water cloudiness also if left in there too long.

< means less than mate and both are the lowest readings that the kits read lol... and yes i had just got home from work and fed them 5min before i took the pic.

im happy that it is a bacterial bloom, ive been reading up and as long as the readings are good all is well... there are several harmless types of bacterial bloom that are an indication that the system is a little out of sync, this should rectify itself in less than a week apparently.

i will continue with my normal weekend 50% waterchange routine and in the future clean my filters mid week and use tank water.

i would say i had an ammonia spike and now the nitrite and nitrate bacteria have multplied due to all the food(ammonia) to get it under control. so with the fairly high nitrates and other levels being good as of now 4/5 days later, they have done their job, i would think they bacteria will drop back to an invisible level soonish with no ammonia to feed them. i will update tomorrow.

this bloody bacteria cloudiness is still multiplying by waterchange time uuurgh...
