Hello everyone!
I love the forum, but I do need some help. My set up consists of a 55 gal tank, Fluval 406, gravel and driftwood. I filled the tank with my decor, gravel, water and set up my filter. I had let it run for a week, just to make sure everything was functioning. I went ahead and added some fish flakes one day, and two or three days after that. One of my co workers who is also a MFK mentioned that he had a large number of convicts due to the breeding like rabbits. He said I was welcome to one to cycle my tank. I discontinued the fish flakes and added the convict. He's been in the aquarium for 6 days now and loving the tank. The water did get cloudy for a few days after I added him, but then got clear. I tested the water today when I got home from work, and my ammonia is up around 2-3.0. The convict is doing fine and showing no signs of distress.
My question is, do I continue to let the tank run its course or do I do a water change? I have had 3 fish people tell me to just wait it out. Then I look on the internet and have people wanting to do PWC. What do I do at this point? Its been 6 days since the fish has been in the water. I feed him once a day, maybe 2-3 pellets.
What do you guys think? I am inclined to let it run its course, but I may be wrong.
Thoughts?
