cycling pumps off and on (day & night)

I seems the issues with bacteria dying have been covered..

If you use a smaller pump you will use less power & keep the water moving 24/7 ...

Just a thought cause if you think the filtration is more than enough (cutting 40%) then just slow it down a bit.

pump i will be using is a sequence hammerhead little over 5000 gal hr its a little oversized but i had a buddy that bought two for his reef setup and he realized after hooking them up waaaay to much water was moving so price is right actually price cant be beat and if memory serves it uses 360watts or is it 395 now im not dead set on this whole cycling on and off i am looking for honest responses if it wont work i deffinitely want to know but with ameren jacking our rates here electricity bill has deffinitely gone up and thats without this tank even set up

even if the PUMP it self was made to go on and off all the time , doins so in a filtered tank would be a huge mistake.. the best post here was the first comment made if you want a tank with no pump make a eco system... then you wont need any filter what soever... i have seen a few done very nice , but don't plan on keeping any thing big

it wont work why dont you sell the pump and get a more energy friendly pump like a mag pump alot less electricity

good enough then it was just a thought i guess i will find a smaller pump that uses less juice
