Cycling questions

next to zero ammonia could indicate a mini cycle. It is probably from you doing to many and to large of water changes. And there for disturbing the biological filter bed too much.

keep your ammonia test kit handy and don't do any more water changes unless the ammonia reading gets to .5ppm of more.

As long as you do not get a build up of ammonia then the tank will clear up in a 4-6weeks.

But it you get ammonia reading of higher than .5ppm then do as many water changes as needed to keep it under that. But no more than 50% at a time.

the cloudiness is from a bacterial bloom where your bio bacteria is try to colonize the tank enough to consume the level of food (ammonia). And there for the cloudiness is actually bacteria in the water.

ok i was also going to buy acouple more filters hob's for my tank is a 18 turnover rate to much??

anyways, I found that the ammonia in my tank is what is making the water cloudy
what is the best way to deal with ammonia strictly water changes? my tank barley goes 5 days before the water is cloudy. found out my current turnover rate is only
about 3 so i guess a filter is needed?

Edit: Anyone know the gph of a fluval 404 WITH media?
I just bought one from a craigslister for 40 bucks!
