Back to the original question. No I don't think your tank has spiked yet you have a rather low bio load to cycle that tank. This has been established but its important.
Cycling from a bare tank with no filter seeding takes longer than a month for me I don't know about others.

A few things to remember the BB loves oxygenated warm water 80-85 degrees so if you can turn up the heat a bit and add some air stones unless youve already done so or have plenty of oxygenation.
Another important thing is to test your tap water if you have not done so. It will give you a baseline to compare against.
Also there are some good stickies here that id recommend looking into that will walk you through the whole process.

Best of luck

excellent advice...:iagree:...go to your LFS and ask them for used media and throw it in your filters

you should take your own advice before giving it to others. I'm sorry but come on. This whole topic you've been telling me to get a bigger tank and now your saying it's not a good idea for newbies when you, yourself did it twice when you were a "newbie". And yeah you did it twice, a 20 to a 55 and a 125 to a 180. I live in a town house right now and the 125 will be just fine until I move into my house next year, where the tank size can be endless.

Ummm,a 20 gallon to a 55 is a little different than a 125 to a 300+.

If you had read what I wrote, the 180 is empty.I have no plans on moving any of the fish I have in the 12 tanks I have running, into the 180 becuase they have outgrown their current tanks. All of the fish I have now are all in properly sized tanks.

And for most of this thread I have been trying to help you cycle your tank.Get some filter material material from a friend or LFS to speed things up.Or add a lot more fish to your tank and overfeed them,or take out all the fish and do a fishless cycle.

I have my fiances tank in the other room. I'm in no rush though, i just wanted to make sure it was starting, which it is.

lol gotta love fortune cookies.
My question is though, why can't they make them taste good?

Anyhow I think your on the right track, at least your not cycling with an aro, etc. There are many people with many opinions, some are good some bad, you"ll just have to decide which advise to follow.

Good luck with the cycling, see ya in the aro forum when the time comes:thumbsup:

wow, alot of heat in this thread. keep up the reading up on the fish you want to keep and confirm every opinion you intend to follow with alot of research. good luck buddy

Remember, there are no stupid question.

OP were all your questions answered bro ? This has obviously slipped way off topic but I want to make sure you got what you needed here. :grinno:
