Really crazy looking, I would find a way to keep one if I could get my hands it.

I made a couple of calls about this now that it's out in Nat Geo. Turns out these types of deformaties have never been recorded alive at full term, and often fall victim to other pups in the womb. The assumption is this fetus had died prior to the shark being caught.

Personally, I still think the eye looks mammal. But I trust the word of those I talked to.

Wow. That eye is realllly weird - how does a shark end up with an eye like that? Even if its a mutation, its nothing close to a shark eye.

Interesting thread. It might sound like an unusual story born of the high seas, but fisherman Enrique Lucero León looked mystery right in the eye - its single, solitary eye. From the tummy of a dusky shark he caught off Cerralvo Island in the Gulf of California, León found something incredibly uncommon: a Cyclops shark, in embryo. Very interesting, and may I ask what that word was of those you talked to? I'm curious now :nilly:
