I have a cynotilapia afra. i dont kno if it is a male or a female? i also have 2 other one's that are all dark blue/black but turn white with stripes are these the same species? . Are these easy to breed? how do i sex them? When are they sexually mature? any advise would be great. Thanks

i believe my male is mature he keep's doing this really rappid tale shake infront of what i think are the female cynotilapia afra.. im not sure I need some help figuring out if they are and if not what specie's they are...how do i kno if there paired up and are they mouth brooder's or cave..??

There are at least 16 different cynotilapia afra. Each collection point have different colorings. Need to know more specifics about the fish. Some collection points the females will have similar colorings as the males. But typically, the females will have much less pronounced markings and tend to be more dull in color. I don't know of any that are white. Hara are a very light sky blue, and can sometimes seem almost white in the right light, but they are still blue.
You will know the females are ready to spawn when they are holding eggs in their mouth.

easiest way to know what fish you have is to post a pic here. Like I said, cynotilapia afra is the species, but there are about 18 different collection points in the lake, and they all look a little different depending on where they were taken from. In your other post, you mentioned yellow dorsal fin. This narrows it down quite a bit.
Making sure the male has enough females (too few and he will eventually kill them) and good water are about the only two things you can do to increase your breeding chances. Mbuna are pretty easy to breed. And once they start, they won't stop (in my experience). I have six species in my 125 and I'm stripping fry about every other week.

Ok i dont have a camera nor do i know ow to post pic's on here i tryed to look them up i will try and find a pic best looking of him and post.. how many female's does he need..?
