For a good number of species/specimens, alot of folks may need to adjust to the harsh reality that you must wait for them. When I started raising polys, my income could only handle the more common/less expensive varieties. Now, I really don't worry about what I spend on my hobbies. But, I planned for this eventuality through savings, investments, and making good financial decisions.

I had the same thoughts about polys when I started thinking of buying one. I didn't like the idea of having the common senegal but I decided to go ahead and start with one and I don't regret it. What is it about the senegal that's stopping you? I picked up my 7-8 inch for 12 dollars and it is fast becoming my favorite fish.

Oh nothing at all haha. When I do get my tank, I will be getting a senegal haha. I just want different ones too hahaha.

Whenever I do get my tank set up... (if I go the bichir route which is the way I am leaning), the senegal will be the first bichir I will buy.

I was just taking a look at teh others (especially the delhiz or w.e bc those are super cool) and realized the cost.

To anser your question... the only ting stopping me is not having a tank set up yet :) But if I find a senegal on sale for dirt cheap, I will probably buy it and throw it in my 50 at home for a month.

i wish i could get polys for $60!!

here in australia, senagals are around $350Au and the only other types u can get are the ornate and albino/longfin... at around $500Au... ( the odd del, once a year maybe too.)

i was lucky enough to stumble across a once in a life time opportunity when i found me some endlicheri! picked up a pair for $700!!! and thats cheap here as they would usually fetch in excess of $600Au each....

as far as any of the other species go....never seen or heard of any of them being around, and would hate to think what the price tag would be....:WHOA:

Just for comparison, here in the Philippines, 5" to 6" Senegals are at $3, Delhezis, Palmas and Albino Senegals at $9, Ornates at $19. Kinda cheap. :WHOA:

in the N.O. a lfs has 2-3" delhezi's for 40 each, and some lap's about 5-7"s for 44 so i think the delhezi price is way to high.
