Haha, you wanna talk about not fitting in...
I am madly in love with the whole "western" theme. I love country music and recently spent about $400 on a whole western outfit, including the boots, shirt, hat etc. Now I live in Massachusetts may I remind you, in one of those suburbs that is filled with the "gangtsas" on the streets, and mass amounts of gothic kids in the malls. The last thing anyone here has ever seen is a 6 foot tall, just about 7' with the hat and boots, cowboy kid walking around the mall. I swear to you that just about everyone stared at me, of course all the old ladies thought I was cute, most of the kids my age, 17, just laughed and called me stupid once I walked by them, and all the little kids thought I was the coolest thing they have ever seen. I still have yet to were it around campus, which I plan on doing this Friday... Did I fit in, hell no, lol, but did I have fun with wearing one of the coolest outfits ever, I'd reckon I did. And does anyone I know like country, no, but that doesn't mean I am not going to give up what I like or try to fit in to find friends. If people really like me, or like anyone, they will look at you more than just intrests, and these are the people that you will find and they will find you.
The moral of the story is to stick to your guns. My roomates hate my country music, but I still play it good and loud and still get along with them. I thought it would be good to make as many friends as possible, but that was dumb because after you meet them all, most of them turn out to be annoying or not nice or something. In life you only need one good friend, and that is how I am living right now, he wasnt afriad to walk next to me that day in the mall. So just look for that one person that you know you will always be able to trust and get along with, remember its quality, not quantity.
People keep on saying things will fall into place, and they will, so just give it time.
