Damn Kids

that reminds me when i was 21 and it was summer. i was busy working 7 days a week and had no time to stay at home to look after my fish. paid my little brother £2 a wek to help me feed my fish twice a day.
then my little cousin from hell from america came along to stay at ours for a months holiday (they were both 11).
3 weeks past and work relaxed a bit so i had time to relax at home and to my horror found out that 75% of my fish stock had dissapeared. in the tankhad 22 clown loaches, 12 congo tetras, wild angels and 50 neons, babie flagtail and various synodontis cats.
i scratched my head in confussion and asked them 2 devils ''oi!!! what happened to my fishes?!' and got a paused reply by my cousin ''they died!'' then they both ran off to the park and left my with thoughts running through my head 'how did they die?' i checked the electricity and the heater and filters were unplugged. and when those two idiots came back home i interrogated them in a aggressive way. . .
they both admitted that they inplugged the plugs and my little brother admitted that during the 3weeks that i was away they got bored and went fishing in my aquarium and used cotton string and fishhooks to fish my fish out. was i mad? . . . of course i was!

I only let 3 children near my tanks. They are my cousin's kids, ranging from 3-8 years old. They know well enough that if they want to see better I'll find a step stool or lift them up. They know that if they want to see the fish fed, they can ask me, and they don't get upset if I tell them "No, I've already fed them today." The first thing I taught them was that they shouldn't hit the glass, and aside from the youngest they listen. The 3 year old I think gets it, but she's 3, so she might just be doing what her older brother and sister are doing. I don't really care why she behaves, so long as she does.
Their parents did an excellent job of teaching them to respect other people's stuff, that live animals are not toys, and that they should listen to adults. They know if they don't respect my rules mommy and daddy will not be happy. Mommy and daddy know roughly how much money I've spent on the hobby and they know that I own some rare/expensive fish.
