hehe a pleco for 4bux? wow, what a country you live in!

:(

I so need to get me some money to buy a fish shop.
bad luck dude :P you should go back in a few days and see where they put it and try to pick it up again as long as there is a different person on duty.

its sucks when you come across an employee w/ some sense. quit you're whining just because you failed to ripoff a store.

Yea, I really feel for you man!! It's a real shame you didn't get the chance to rip them off! I'm sure they really felt bad when you refused to buy the other fish because you didn't get the chance to basically steal from them. I'm sure they will really miss having you for a customer. I think its ironic everybody complains when there isn't any LFS with knowledgable people and when they find one, they complain that they couldn't rip them off!! As if running a LFS isn't enough of a hard biz to make it in, they have to worry about people pulling something like this:screwy: :grinno: :grinno:

I have been going to that shop for years. I have always paid Full price and have never complained because they have godd healthy fish.
The reason I was mad is because I was told a price and then they tell me it was not for sale. I was willing to pay the regular price for it once she went to show the owner, but to come back out and totally refuse me a fish that was in plain sight is just wrong IMO.

could have just arrived, could have been being medicated.
some lfs's could care less, they will sell ya a fish right out of the shipping bag that just arrived with no gurantee. Others will be nice, and say sorry it just arrived, come back in 5-10days. all those transistions espeically after a long ship are rather hard on a fish. maybe you should have asked why its not for sale. I almost had a store deny me a pleco once, cause it was soo much larger than the others, and they weren't sure it was for sale, or if it should cost more. finally after about 3-4 sales people later someone knew something...
<Shrugs> don't know what to tell ya...

amen brother... i would of droped the stuff where i was and walked out... while mumbling loudly of what kind of people they are. and literly DROP the stuff... like on the floor...

I'm sure that they would have been happy to sell you common plecos at that price.
Now if she had sold it to you and been fired or disciplined for her mistake would you have made it right?
I worked part time at a petsore many years ago and we had 2 side by side tanks of juvie monitors, one of lace and the other of savanahs, both tanks were simply labelled with the price and the lace were considerably more, a lace had been placed into the savanah tank and a customer got very upset when he was told he could not have it at the savannah price. Was the owner of the store wrong?
Personally, I think it was the customer who had moved it.

they should have just set it aside and tell you that it's not for sale at the first place. i once went to an asian store and saw a whiptail pleco type of fish.. she was asking for $50 dollars. their was not price on the tank but all the other fish has price on it. i think she was trying to beef up the price. the same day (night time) i told my wife to go back and ask for it and the guy told my wife it's 9.99 for each (price was not posted on the tank). my wife went and bought both fish. same store also tried to sell me a titanic pleco for $50 dollars. i refuse to buy it. afte 2 days i went back hoping they would give a better deal... pleco is dead and still in the tank! luckily i didn't but it. my money would have gone down the drain.;)

Like I said in my previous post. I would have paid full price for it. If I had got it for $2.99, that would have been a plus. All I wanted was for them to tell me the price, and bag it up so I could pay for the stuff.
If I had ended up getting it for the wrong price and some kind of action was taken upon the employee And I knew about it. Yes, I would correct the situation.

Maybe I will try again today. Maybe they have the correct price on it now.

Okay, I agree that when the store purchaces a fish, any fish, that they should be able to sell it for a reasonable price and make a fair profit.

If the store paid the same for this pleco as all the commons, then you could not be ripping them off, they are still getting a fair profit. If they paid more for it then you are 'ripping' them off in a way, but who knows for sure?

I agree that if they had a price on it, that was fair, then I would also buy it at that price. The issue is they had it in a sale tank & later said 'not for sale'..

Most of the LSFs here have display tanks marked 'not for sale' as well a 'Q' tanks for new fish. If this was in a tank will sellable fish then it should not be quarantined, and if it is quarantined then is should not be in a sellable tank.

Of course, that is just my opinion. I have been wrong b4...
