Damn LFS!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I had ended up getting it for the wrong price and some kind of action was taken upon the employee And I knew about it. Yes, I would correct the situation.

Face it man, you're upset that you didn't get to cheat them out of a fish for cheap. I'm not going into why it didn't have a price on it, there are way too many possible reasons and nobody can say that they bought it at a reg. pleco price for sure. Perhaps they temporarily moved it to that tank to clean the one it was in?? You were too focused on trying to snatch the fish and you didn't want or care to find out those details. The fact is it wasn't priced to sell and you knew that and you also knew it was a "rare" fish as you stated. You already had a chance to tell the clerk what it was but you were hoping to pull one over on her/him. You're statement above just proves your intentions of ripping them off! Its the same thing as saying " I would have gave the money back if I actually got caught stealing or if somebody got in trouble." -YEA RIGHT!! You had already blew any chance of being the better person many times during the situation. For you to say you would have done the right thing if somebody got in trouble afterwards is WEAK to say the least. Then to have the nerve to flame the LFS employee afterwards for trying to do a good job so as to keep his/her job. Man that's quite the class act you have there!!!

Oh, forgive me, cause you know it all? :clap
If you think I am upset cause I failed to cheat them out of a fish. You couldn't be more wrong. I am upset cause I was refused a fish I really wanted at any resonable cost.

You have no idea of who I am, or what kind of person I am. So don't act like you do.

Alright folks, we all like a deal. The store may or may not have paid prime for this fish. Anyone would have tried to get a deal (ANYONE). We all do, but in the end we know we will pay a fair price for a fish we want.

If the store were to have "busted" the employee, it is not likely that the purchaser of the under priced fish would ever know. That is unless we were that employees friend in the "real world". If we were, we wouldn't have put them in that situation, unless they were "in on it".

Yes, Aquatic Resource, that includes you. If you purchased a load of common plecos for your store & found a rare one, I highly doubt that the next call you would make would be to your supplier offering them more money for the order. Face it you are experienced enough to see the value & put an appropriate price on it. Would you not then be ripping off both the supplier as well as the consumer?

Let's be honest with ourselves here. In the same situation, we would get a rush & hope to get out the door. Then we would feel a bit guilty, rationalize it by calculating how much they have made on us over the years, & go about our days.

Okay, I will get off my soap-box now.. Peace & joy to all my fish loving friends @ MFK :hearts:

Nicely put Lil-stinker.
Please don't get me wrong here, I would of, and have taken advantage of mislabelled or wrongly priced fish, such as spotted ctenopoma marked a asian leaffish and sold for about a third the right price.
I have also been disappointed when an employee caught the mistake (2 1/2" koi (usually $6)in a feeder goldish tank marked at 8 for a dollar, rats), but fish get put in the wrong tanks and mislabelled all the time.
If the mistake was caught and the seller wanted time to look up the fish and it's current retail value before selling it, or even decided to keep it, or fill a pre-existing request for it, well until money changes hands, it is his fish.
The most likely explanation is that the owner was not able to drop what he was doing and look up a price for it right then. Checking back now might find it for sale again.

I'm new to fish keeping but I don't think anyone can really blame him for trying to catch a deal. If it was a large chain store I would have tried to catch a deal(if I knew what I was looking for) but if it was a small independant fish store I would have probably pointed out the mistake if I had noticed it. I have many hobbies and I enjoy getting to know shop owners and like to help them stay in business. I have walked out with items that weren't mine from shops of other hobbies of mine and when I realized it I either went in and told them what happened and paid for it or gave the item back if it was a public access tool or whatever. If I catch pricing mistakes at large corporations I have and will take advantage of them.

That is just how I see it and I know many will disagree.

Okay, I agree that when the store purchaces a fish, any fish, that they should be able to sell it for a reasonable price and make a fair profit.

If the store paid the same for this pleco as all the commons, then you could not be ripping them off, they are still getting a fair profit. If they paid more for it then you are 'ripping' them off in a way, but who knows for sure?

I agree that if they had a price on it, that was fair, then I would also buy it at that price. The issue is they had it in a sale tank & later said 'not for sale'..

Most of the LSFs here have display tanks marked 'not for sale' as well a 'Q' tanks for new fish. If this was in a tank will sellable fish then it should not be quarantined, and if it is quarantined then is should not be in a sellable tank.

.

:iagree:

Sucks that they did that to you.. at least they should have given you a price.. I would have walked out also...
