So about a month ago I quarintined and acclimated 3 new cichlids into my terror and dempsey tank. After introducing them to the the 90gal i had a bad ich breakout. Used the salt treatment but all 3 died, plus 2 golfball sized snails. I dont believe this was a normal case of ich, it looked much stringier and worst. But anyway a month later no signs of parasites on dempsey and terror. Well now the dempsey is back to eating like a maniac and i can get terror to eat anything! This is a female silver saum. Its been over a month. Ive tried everything from pellets, to bloodworms, to liveworms. She is just not interested. Weird thing is she hasnt lost any mass. Her stomach looks fine. She swims around but seem to be more shy now and a tad lethargic. Her stomach looks pretty normal, but she had not grown any. I know this is kind of a ****ty question, just wanted some input. Thanks guys.
Tankmates are: Dempsey, Carpentis, Cyano, Veija.

Yeah thats the only answer that really makes sense. My water and stocking is fine.
I dont know if i would use metronidazole to treat internal parasites. I dont even like the fact of using chemicals in my tank. Any other input MFK?
Like i said this is a hard question.

Hmm.. sounds like the salt killed your snails. if you dont want to use meds then try high veggie diet, peas too to help clean out digestive track. water changes, water changes:) there are a ton of great threads explaining treatment without use of meds.

I doubt me catching her and force feeding peas down her throat is going to do anything beneficial. Thats the problem, she wont eat. She doesnt seem sick.
Ohh yeah i forgot to add, her poop is almost clear and stringy and long. I dont know if this is from not eating or an internal parasite. If she had internal parasites i think she would very slender and sickly. I just dont want her to be sick and get my entire tank infected. buhhh i dont want to resort to meds unless i KNOW something is wrong.

But if shes not eating I would put her in a QT tank and treat her with metro. I hate using meds myself but sometimes you need to. I've been through it with my GT before, they're extremely prone to internal parasites.

I would be more incline to say internal parasites, Has she had any white string poop?

yeah it really sounds like she has internal parasites, i am right there with you with not liking to use meds but like stated before sometimes it is necessary, if it is parasites then you will need to treat the entire tank, because its possible she has already infected the other fish they just aren't showing symptoms yet, fish can live a long time with parasites its just when they get stressed out or something and the parasites get the upper hand that things begin to go bad. the parasite med i have used in the past was jungle parasite clear and this didnt seem to have any kind of adverse affects whatsoever and i used it to treat a quarantine tank that had a 1.5in ebjd and <1in festae fry and it didnt harm this little babies at all and got rid of the parasites the ebjd had. GOOD LUCK, once they stop eating pretty much your only course of action is to use meds...
