OK. As anyone here can proabably attest it has gotten difficult to find Dats of any size. Prices by me have doubled to about 65-120 for a 3-4" fish. We are talking Indo and Thin Bar Dats here not NGT! I keep looking. A new LFS is opening nearby by a Online dealer finally opening up shop. He told me he was making a run up to his wholesaler for his first livestock and asked me if i wanted anything.....He called from the place and said they had but two "six bar" Dats just under 2". One was perfect and stable, the other "blotchy" but healthy. The price was right so i grabbed em both.

I picked them up last night and they are small. 1" or so. They were also kept Brackish. (WHY????????) I drip acclimated them for my 10 gallon for almost an hour and put them in. My 1.5" AT attacked them with vigor. He would switch from one to the other. I re-arranged the tank to no avail. Right now they are in a refugium within the tank safe and sound. They both look thick....very unstable. They both feasted on Blood worms and cut up krill this morning.

Will the AT relent?? I have no other established tank yet. I have an uncycled 10 gallon I am filling today....Can they live in the refugium for a month at most while i cycle the tank?? Can anyone tell what species they are? I have not seen either stable yet! Sorry for the long read! Thanks in advance!

Body shape looks like IT. Chances are the stable AT will keep on chasing them and it will be hard to get it to stop without adding many more dats.

Yeah, that's a really bright AT if it is one,get another picture of it...I agree with wonword about the chasing.I would let the two new ones out and put the bully in solitary for the time being.

What is the magic number of Dats?? I was hoping three!

Three might be enough but as young as those fish are it's best not to have them stressed out too much. The AT might leave them alone after a while.
