Three might be enough but as young as those fish are it's best not to have them stressed out too much. The AT might leave them alone after a while.
Thanks! A divider would suck in that tank....planted and busy with dither.....Do you think I should lock up the aggressive AT while the IT's adjust or keep them protected in the refugium??

If you could get 4 or 5 you would probably be alright. Minimum is 3, and that's only if they are all the same size. It's a good sign that they are still eating. I would keep them in the ref for a bit and cycle another tank if you have one.

The AT is only 1.5" but much more robust than the new guys. It bullied and killed the AT I got with it which was much smaller. I am wondering with fish to keep in the refugium while another tank cycles....the AT or the two IT babies??

What is the magic number of Dats?? I was hoping three!

The magic number is said to be 5. But I have 7 small ones right now and there is still a bully and thats in a 120 gallon.

Maybe if the AT is put away for a while and returned to the tank at a later time it won't try to assert it's dominance but you just never know.

OK....I have a plan. I am out the door to get a few supplies to get my 10 gallon going under my big tank. I will cycle with a few feeders.....if they survive at least they will be fully quarantined for food. I will move the AT into the refugium and allow the new Dats a nice adjustment. Decision will be who moves into the new tank; the At or the two babies. I have three weeks or so to decide. Thanks for the advice!

Just use water and media from the big tank to cycle the small tank!
Yep.If your dats are not eating feeders now then there is no need to start them on them.

I added some substrate from my established tank.....water just adds Nitrates! The feeders would go into my ponds but they are under ice and snow! my Payara would love the exercise!

Ken, I rearrange my tanks, if you are willing I will trade my redhooks and something else of your choosing in my tank for those 2 guys. I will grow them out!
