Hey all i'm new to dats but just picked up 8 1 inch indo's. (shadowbass posted pics of em already....thats my missus btw ;) )

My question is whats the best feeding schedule? IE how many times a day and how much. I'm currently feeding freeze dried krill and frozen brine shrimp. Im feeding throughout the day 5-8 times a day. There mowing through the brine like there's no tomorrow. There in a 29g for now to grow out some. (currently have fundage for 300-400 gallon tank so no im not going to stunt them) : ) I'm doing 50% - 80% w/c per day with 2 emp 280 hob's and one penguin 150 hob for filtration. temp is a rock steady 80.5 degrees. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for info in advance all.

I've been told that brine doesn't have much nutritional value. Frozen bloodworms are a better choice.

I've tried frozen blood worms and they just spit them out. Never heard brine didnt have much nutritional value before though.

Get them used to bloodworms if you can, i think they work well for keeping baby indo's. I have 6 little guys up to 2" and they LOVE them. They always eat until theyre good n fat... and i feed mine as much as a can when im home on the weekends but during the week they get less.

Mine wont look at krill even though i want them to get used to it.

They love little convict feeders and guppies but i like bloodworms more.

Just tried some mysis shrimp and they didn't go insane over it but all ate at least some. I'll try bloodworms again since the consensus seems to be there the best way to go.

After a little research, it seems that brine shrimp have the most nutritional value when they first hatch, as they still have a yolk sac attached. I doubt the frozen ones you feed are that young. Whether or not this is true doesn't matter all that much, as bloodworms and some other frozen foods are much more nutritious, and will allow for faster growth.

As for getting them to accept the bloodworms, maybe try garlic extract? That's always worked for me.

aiy-aiy stevesy. lol, i love that movie.

garlic does seem to work for some reason.

Feeding schedule and WC change schedule sound spot on. Alot of smaller feedings and plenty of water changes will really help in their growth. Feed them what they will eat and throw in other things like small pieces of MP and bloodworms every once in awhile. When they get bigger than you can start introducing different foods to them. Don't try to starve them at this point to take different foods as they are still at a sensitive stage. GL.

Tried blood worms again with no luck again they just spit it out. I'm going to pick up some garlic extract later today as was suggested. Hopefully that works. Even though brine isint that nutritious the sheer amount there eating should keep them from actually starving shouldn't it? The 8 of them are eating till there bellys are swollen lol. Entire frozen cubes of it at each feeding.

THey will not starve, just keep them nice and fat... Eventually mix in the bloodworms in the tank at the same time as the brine shrimp. The garlic extract ought to help too.

Maybe a different brand of bloodworms?? NO idea...

Good luck, and keep em fat!
