Dat question ..

When refering to "max size" you should think of the size the fish is likely to get even in the best conditions. There are always those freaks of nature that will grow larger then the norm. There was a story of a 30" Pulcher, but it is commonly agreed that 24" is the "usual max size". People say NTT's have gotten up to 16", but there is a 99.9% chance it won't get over 12". I am sure there has been some NGT's over 14", but again, i believe most people refer to the AVERAGE max size a fish can get in the best circumstances.

I think the world record for tallest man was 10'. That doesn't mean we should say humans max out at 10'.

Not trying to argue with you, just asking where the reference was as i recall seeing some sites showing them getting 18"+. Yes i know alot of info on dats out there isnt accurate. I did find on DiXon's site that he has them showing 14". So again not arguing and even agree that even a 12" NGT in home aquaria is rare, just like to see references when i see information that defers from what i have learned or seen.

Not trying to argue either:D

As far as the references. I do not have the names of the websites, I just looked up info and got some (Some good, some bad). In the recent years, most of my info has come from forum communities like this and reading about people's experiences and stories others have heard. Never met, or heard of anyone with a NGT larger then 14" in all the years I have been keeping Dats, and reading about them.

This is all I can go by as I have never studied NGT's in their natural habitat. But from what I have read, most people are in agreement that NGT max out around 14".

No worries here. Wouldn't it be something to see though, an NGT the size of a large widebar? That would have to be a solo tank with as much attitude an NGT can have backed up with the size of huge ST.
