Also, Dats are fine scaled fish, so if you have to use meds, I wouldn't use full doses

I think 20 gallons is pretty small for such a big fish. It would stress the fish more than anything, plus dats get easily stressed. IMO, just leave the fish in the big tank, it looks happy there.

I cannot say anything abot the other med, but Melafix has work well for me in the past. Just be careful with the dosing, always read the label. There is two Melafix out there, one "normal" one and the other is for pond, which is more concentrated.

well...

when i picked him up he was in a 30 or 40 with multiple other fishes.... and it will cost more than $50 to medicate the whole 250 gallons with the melafix and the maracyn for his popeye and the wounds on his side...

so, yeah he now sits in the 20 long....

well hey just got out of his treatment and he has no popeye,

they are the same as when he went in....

and he is more twords the 10"-11" range instead of 8"

i also put some melafix in there to treat the side wounds,, those are looking better...

i was gonna do some prazipro but its too hard to keep the water quality in that little tank good with him in there so its one of those is it doing more harm than good things...

but i can dose 250g's for $6 or so but to dose that much with Maracyn would be outragous..

thanks all for the comments i'm loving my 3 bar dat -
will get him a wide bar buddy eventually :)
