man i wish i knew what they were saying

Same :D

Ive watched this documentary like a million times and still dont understand a single word they are saying, but it is very enjoyable to watch :D

what they would be saying is this info is older than me so nothing new :D

In episode one they guy is talking about Bungborpetch in Nakorn Sawan. He's asking the guy, "Have you ever caught Pla sua dor or ST?", the guy replies "my dad used to catch them all the time. Made his living from them." He asks him if he has ever caught them, and he says, "Yes 1, 3, 4, KG easy".
"Do you think we’ll catch some."
"I haven't seen any but yes we will."
"We will try."
"Yes we'll try."
"I want to catch a big one."
"6.5 kg can. I'm not bull****ing you."

Commentary at the end, he's talking about "how people go crazy to catch this fish because it's like finding a 2 to 3 baht in gold (1200 to 2000$ in todays gold prices). The meat is so sweet and tasty (I **** you not, my wife has just translated) that the price has gone up and up. They're so expensive that people come to the lake to try and catch them to sell. That is why this fish is disappearing day by day! The less there are the more the price goes up!"

Man, they were eaten to extinction!! I'm not suprised though. 15 years ago you could still eat fresh monkey brains in China Town. They used to strap it in a table and cut the top of its head off in front of you. You could pick your monkey form a display! Yum yum!

Second episode is on about where they are found, IT, STs, NTTs.
The fat bloke is saying how it was easy to catch them to eat or send out of the country for the hobby from Bung bora petch because the lake is so big and beautuiful but now maybe gone. can't catch them anymore. Caught everyday, now more come from Cambodia and Vietnam. He's also talking about ST being different, thai is more yellow, black is sharper, or more pointed??
I'll do more tomorrow!

Thank you for the translation! But why would you eat a datnoid!?!?!
