i was just wonder what type of lighting do you dat keepers use if any at all are there some that work better than others also the best colored backdrop to help with stability, right now i have a big black rock in my tank and my NTT likes to flatten up against it and when he does he turns really dark

I don't use any lighting on my tank. I had my 2 1/2dat in a 15 gal with no light and no back ground and he/she would be dark and hide but when I put my dat in a 25 gal still with no light but with a light blue back, for some reason he is stable. He still hides but you see his colors now
My experience ( albeit short with Dats ) is that they do not like light. They change their behaviour drastically, between darkness and light.
I run super white leds with black background and white sand, so far all my dats except one seem pretty stable. I have a lot of places for them to hide, tho.
It just takes time people..... I reckon years to get light sensitive dats to remain stable under bright light....especially the Indo tigers.
I had a very low light for 3 years. Before I started using Stronger lights. now they don't mind the bright lights so much.. Now I can alternate dim and bright lights when ever I want.
If don't get them used to the light, ur missing out on stable tigers in well lit tank= stunning aquarium
Use timers to start with. May take months or years before they go stable in strong light. This is my experience.

I have a fluorescent shop light fixture (T8 or something?) above my tank. I personally think stock and feeding has to do with it more. I think if you have 5+ dats around the same size, they will not hide as much. I also find that my dats become very lazy for a day or two after feeding. When I dont feed them for a few days, they are begging for food at the front.
