Datnoid's stability mystery

if you chase that same tiger around in the tank with a net for 10 mins then put it in a bag to bring home chances are it will be stable in the bag
This is something I've seen in many fishes, though I know datnoids are more famous for it. I think it has to do with so many variables... the first and most prominent one is the fish. Some fish are just more prone to being stable for whatever reason. Then you have tank mates, decor, diet, light, temp, weather... what color shirt you wear when feeding your fish. lol
I didnt get a chance to read everyones post on this thread but with the ST i have, when it seems like he's scared/threatened, he'll be more stable. It's weird, I thought it would be the other way around.
hi, just wanna share the thought,
the 2 IT dats that I recently bought and placed in my 120 g tank look really stressful for the first few days, that their bars were faded. I then moved them into my outdoor pond, and guess what, within seconds their bars were back, and they look completely stable. So,..... dat's stability mystery for me is solved!

When I had my IT. He was unstable but when I put the temp at 86, and was fed with tankmates, hiding spots and large swimming space. He'd be stable 24/7
sounds like heart rate plays a role in this debate? mine seems to be unstable when hes just chillin, when hes out and about he is stable, this also goes along with what others had said about a new environment, getting chased, and increased temps.

I notice when I do a partial water change and vacuum the gravel my group of indos and thinbars all either go pale or very dark while the suction tube is disturbing the tank as I move it around..Hmm,I guess I am to assume that they enjoy this process since they are unstable at that time....Then,after the tank is filled with replacement water and things settle down all of them seem to boldly display their striping on their light background,at this point they must really be pissed off lol.
by changing water you have slight changes in PH which = stress right
more things show us that stable means stressed or like i said it would mean about 80% of us are not taking care of them right or why would so many be unstable
its people who know how to take care of fish that have unstable IT not new fish keepers
