what type of altifrons you got?

Just altifrons. I could probably go through Weidners book and find a Rio Something variety that looks closest to mine, but in reality they're most likely captive bred for many generations and may even be a mix of several different varieties. Regardless, I think its a bit far-fetched calling them "Rio" anything when all I'm going on is a picture in a book, if they were F1 or F2 from a known source then that would be different, but I'm guessing these are mass-produced by a fish farm somewhere in asia and are so far removed from any of the wild varieties its pointless trying to identify them.

I have two different "looks" though, one has more redish colour in the body and more iridescent blue in the pelvic fins and a slightly larger spot, they were bought at a larger size from the LFS, who said the wholesaler had been growing them out for some time. The others were [probably] more recent imports that I've grown out.

Full tank shots will come when the tank has sufficient lighting.

Couple of quick average pics, video to come.

Moved the catfish across today. I had planned on photographing them as I caught them from the 5' so they were less stressed, but the camera had a flat battery so they pics are taken after they've spent an hour sitting in a white plastic bin, hardly ideal...

L081 wouldn't sit still and jumped into the tank before I could grab the camera!

I doubt any of them, or their parents for that matter, came from anywhere near the Rio Xingo or Manaus. Probably more like Geophagus altifrons 'Pond #5 Wang Ho Fish Farm, Malaysia'.

;)

That's funny lol

Great looking fish though.

The tank is great as well
