Dead Arapaima

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I cant say 100% that its my water , but im sure a less than perfect water weakened its immune system and the parasites finished it off. Its past the delicate stage now IMO and its really dissapointing.

rkc772- dont think a UV would help as it doesnt nuke parasites.

My fault, this was a great specimen and i totally botched it up. The only thing to do now
is to get another one.
do what i do get 2 of them now to make up for the 1:grinyes:

Sorry for your loss.:rip .Thats why i take care when im using feeders, i hold them for about a week or more before feeding them, finishing off a batch before i get another batch then start all over again..Cant u do an autopsy or something as to im curious as to what killed it in such fast rate without any symptoms, the scales and gills look fine and it looks like it was really an internal sickness...

:( Sorry bro

Did you cut it open to look more closely?

Often times the super small ones will have air bladder/lung problems from being shipped wrong. It doesn't show up for about 3 months.

Parasites are a maybe. So many times parasites get blamed when it wasn't the case at all.
I lost one of my small arapaima to a coronary embolism a few weeks ago. The bleeding flooded the tissue blocking proper oxygen exchange. Poor little guy drown in his own blood.

Stress is small arapaima is a killer, that's for sure.

That sux redtailfool, I have one that is identical in size, I am keeping my fingers crossed for the next couple of weeks to bulk him up......(bloodworms & sinking granules.)
