Fresh black worms should be rinsed in cold tap water (chlorine free) daily and kept in the refrigerator in a container with an uncovered or loosely fitting lid. I prefer to keep them in a long flat Tupperware container. I add cold water to the container, then tip it slowly to let the dead worms & any detritus drain off, repeating this procedure until all I see are live worms. Only keep enough water in the container to cover the worms with about 1/4" of water.
If your worms are fresh & lively when purchased, they should keep at least a week when maintained this way. If you have chlorine or chloramine in your tap water, you can always keep a gallon jug of treated water in the frig to rinse your worms daily.
