Ya but its HOW they kill, atleast kill them without so much pain as that.
They kill them the most efficient way that it is possible kill those animals, by cutting the dorsal area and severing the spine(thats the cut the kid is standing next to). There is no way to kill them instantaneously. Do to peoples concerns over suffering they don't spear or harpoon them anymore, the only real bodily damage they do is the cut. If you can think of a better way to kill a whale on a beach I'm open too it.

wow some of the people in this thread :nilly:

MGK, ur right!!

This a repost as someone already pointed out and I really don't want to keep going back and forth on it but the more I read this thread the more interesting the people of this island and their tradition becomes to me....Someone also said that they are not able to grow any crops there but the picture sure shows a healthy ammount of greenery right near the shore.

http://www.nationmaster.com/country/fo-faroe-islands/agr-agriculture

they list the percent of arable land to be 2%

growing fruiting(used in a botanical sense) plants takes more or alot more then grass and moss. I am not a botanist so I can't say what makes there land inappropiate for crops

Good link,thanks.

when i got the cove i thought it was gonna be an action movie or something. it still came out a decent watch

i am with mgk...if i could i would kill and process all my own food...the water delotes the blood so it seems like alot more then it realy is...if someone said to me "hay you want to go kill a doliphin for dinner" i would do it with out a problem...now if you change the doliphin out for a deer or a cow no one would freak out like they would over a doliphin...they are animals and they are in their home so they know all the exits...it is a challange to hunt one...

now did anyone know that you can hunt deer with a spear in some states?...now how about with a bow? if you hit them bad witch isn't hard to do as you realy are going for a square foot kill zone...they will run off and slowly bleed to death...now one crys for a bad shot on a deer, but you sever the spine of a whale or dohliphin for the same perpose you are a barbarick animal that should be punished...

U people are sick, not because you want to harvest your own food or any of that, but because you dont have a problem with people killing dolpins! Dolphins are the seas guardian angels! In The Cove a man tells about how his partner was surfing and a large tiger shark was about to attack the surfer when a dolphin came out of no where and slammed into the tiger shark on its side saving the mans life. They are also very inteligent and sweet and sensative, they have been good omens to sailors since greek mythology and humans have no right in killing them. There is a BIG difference between dolphins and say a stripped bass, dolphins care for there young, the feel sadness and joy, they can also express love, and did you know that "flipper" killed himself in his trainers arms by drowning himself? if that doesnt show how intelligent human-like they are i dont know what does, and for a while it was believed that they were the souls of humans after they had died and if you killed one you got the death pentalty. Im no enivornmentalist but I do believe killing a dolphin is extremely WRONG. What other animal do you know that killed itself because it just couldnt stand its life? and you call killing 50,000 dolphins a year OK?
