I am a little curious as to where you got the 50,000 figure.
The average amount of pilot whales the faroe islands kill is 900 per year, I have a hard time believing they kill over 40,000 thousand dolphins in addition to that.
Especially since all estimates I have heard of dolphins and whales that are killed annually falls far short of that number(most coming from japan).

Come on people different cultures beleive and do things differently than others. Its a fact and part of life, no use sitting here and moaning over something you cant control. I can really see the "hippie" coming out in some of the posters on this thread.

I don't have a problem with that is happening on the islands, the people do it for their personal food, not commercially. They are also killing them in the most humane way possible, and from what i have read, the killing is not a major threat to the whale population, as they are taking in well under 1% a year.
