Dead Female BN Pleco

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
With out having a go I really think you are over thinking this if they were fine until now and you have seen no major issue and the water is ok just accept it as one of those things.

Cichlid usually ignore plecos but I would suggest jewel cichlid as they are agressive. Surprised you keep discus with jewels and parrots?

Is your water hard? I cant keep bn's at all in my hardwater tanks they seem to do fine for a while then just die.

Really? BN plecos are usually recommended for African tanks because they can live in hard water.

I've heard that but i've lost commons and went through 3 bn's 2 from a non african tank my Synodontis Multipunctatus are thriving and i replaced some plecs with Chinese algae eaters and they are thriving as well. Its not from lack of food either they all had nice bellys and fed well on wafers.

Looks like your other fish killed her do to the damage I can see in the photos and considering your saying she was 100 percent fine the night before so I would say one of your other fish tore her up and you should watch the tank for aggression also this is in the wrong section it should be in the pleco section

Yea i know i get that a lot. The fact is i think people seriously overestimate the amount of work involved in keeping discus. They are very hardy animals. Not the sensitive things people make them out to be. Also my blood parrot does bully the discus a bit some of them will just bully him back. I have this 1 discus thats the alpha and looks very pretty and he fights the other fish sometimes.

The pleco section is pretty much void of people. I dont see any advantages in it being moved, only that i wont get any more help from now on and will now have to post a new thread because if i ask a question on here it might take weeks to get a reply.
