After the loss of the red wolf I knew I wanted to do another monster, so this one seemed like a good choice.
Got a Serrasalmus sanchezi, he he’s about 3 inches and already a good eater. The teeth are already huge - not looking to get bit anytime soon.
So far he took some salmon and may have gotten a small crayfish I tossed in with him. Currently he’s residing in the 36, that should be good for life or it will be at least a few years until he outgrows the tank. Maybe I’ll try to get a bn pleco in there if the ones I have ever decide to breed…

He’s not as interactive as the red wolf (so far), but that’s to be expected with a piranha.
Shoutout to Global Fish Co. for a beautiful fish!

I gotta feeling the sanchezi may become a glass banger 😆

Looking good mate. Do they keep the polka dots into adulthood? Presumably the red gets more coverage as well. Very nice looking piranha 🤩
They color similar to red bellies. It should lose the spots and get a deeper red. There’s also supposedly a purple variant but from what I’ve read it’s unless if it’s a true variant or if they all get like that with maturity. There aren’t too many good quality photos of adults out there that I’ve seen.
Not my pic, but the adult will look similar to this:
