Deadly water change....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do I dare do this with my 55 gallon ? This is a $15 loss of fish. Still sucks but under $20... if I kill my aro :/..... or any of the others

It is sand and vacuum during water changes every week and a half or so, I vacuumed it a week ago.

You've had them long enough to have a well established colony so unless you completely replaced all the bio in your filters, I dunno how it could've crashed. What kind if conditioner did you use? Matt (estarego8) lost all his fish as well a couple months ago from a bad batch of stress coat.

API stress coat is not the same as API Tap Water Conditioner...But even still, there are better de-chlorinators out there. That sucks though, I have lost fish after a water change even in a well cycled tank for no apparent reason. Temp, test levels, all normal. To this day I still don't know what happened...Perhaps like previously mentioned, maybe pockets of trapped toxic gas released from the gravel or somehow something in the tap water. But I have a sand substrate which is known to trap these gases.

I have API water conditioner as well. I have used both without fail . They aren't new bottles so it's not the batch.... I will be moving the 55 today ( I have to get the 135 running and cycled asap ) wish me luck. I will use the water condition instead of stress+

**Fingers crossed !***

What was your water change schedule for the few weeks prior to the 70% WC you did moving the tank?
