Deadly water change....

When is the last time you vacuumed the gravel? Do you have gravel or sand? You could have disturbed the hell out of gravel when moving it and released high amounts of toxins.

I am guessing this. Sand can trap bubbles of gas from food getting sifted down in it and the release when it is disturbed. I would recommend using prime or amquel for your water conditioner.

Many water conditioners will cause dissolved oxygen to plummet. I had a friend who's fish were fine until water changes, they'd start gasping for air and trying to jump. A bubble wand fixed it for him. The lack of surface agitation (oxygen exchange) from the pumps being off would be no good. That'd be my guess as to what happened.

hooray! moved the 55 and filled the 135 successfully.... fish in the 55 freaked out but all seem to be fine and alive :) did the exact same thing as yesterday with the 29 .... hmm... well super happy. now I just have to wait a few weeks to cycle the new tank :)

Nice! Looks like the 29 gal was just a random occurrence. If you move your filters from the 55 to the 135 you wont have to cycle it all. The fish only produce an x amount of ammonia and bacteria will only be present in the availability of its food source so I'm sure you wont have any spikes that could harm the fish if you move the filters with it! But I would give them a couple days before moving them, dont wana stress them out too much! Good luck and nice fish!

+1 on using Prime, tanks look great!

I have a HOB on the 55 and the 55 is going to stay up and running .. I have 2 405 filters for the 135 running now. Cannot transfer the filter. But I've thrown some mollies in (4) have another 10 or so to add later .... and might purchase stuff to speed up BB , if that is useful.

seachem stability is the only one that actually works lol. Most others are just snake oil.

Everyone agree ? I bought one once and felt I wasted my money. I have little patience but wasting money is worse....

Make sure to shake the crap out of it! That was my mistake, it was clearish when I first used it and it didnt do much. Need to make sure its a creamy white when added and you should be cycled in under a week for sure with a couple water changes!
