Death by Monster Aquarium?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you have nothing to worry about, but not for the reason that everyone says. You are very aware of the potential problems, so you will be extremely careful. You now will be more likely to take all the right precautions and have a tank with more safety features than the average retail tank.

They churn out tons of these things, this is a rare event for you. Yes, that means you are more likely to screw up; but you are also more likely to take the right precautions out of fear.

Death is a very real possibility if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. A giant tank made with 1" acrylic would scare the hell out of me now. My 750 was made with 1.25" and still failed.

So.., why did the tank fail....??? Seems weird that it would what were the conditions?? (stand, base, manufacturer, age,..., etc....)

my 110 tall scared me a little, seeing its much taller than it is deep, it looks like it wouldnt take much to tip it over. Until i tried to move it a little when it was full, wich changed my mind.

But I agree, its more likely to be struck by lightning or eaten my kIller beE's, etc...

Another one for MYTHBUSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Figured I would revisit this thread since its one of my favorites... since there have been several failures since then that could have easily killed people.

Then there is this one.. a factory made 450 where the front pane just came out.. look at the picture of where that pane landed and then just imaging being in the usual fish watching mode… front and center… probably sitting on a chair.. maybe with your face against the glass.. then a 200lb pane of glass winds up in your lap.. probably severing both legs and the force of the water pinning you against the opposite wall.
