Quarantine Tank
I always simply throw pellets into my growout tanks. The fish then eat them up really fast before the pellets ever have time to absorb water and expand. Minutes later thier bellys are HUGE!

I was wondering if anybody ever heard of or experienced any fish deaths by pellet or food expansion? Anybody presoak their pellets to prevent this?

I haven't but my little rainbow wolf got close i think

I don't know if its from pellets but one guy here had a poly die from ever eating

BTW your avatar it cool resident evil it a great game

i think i'm gonna have to start soaking my pellets

fish have been reported to get swim bladder problem when they eat pellets too quick and then the pellets expand in the stomach
this is considered one such reason for the swim bladder prob in aros though (have no experience, but did read it in a few websites when i lost my first baby silver aro )

i dont think you really have to worry about "death".. maybe just the whole swim bladder thing....

only death problem i have ever heard about was krill being the primary ingrediant of pellets and it causing liver problems...

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've actually never heard of anyone soaking pellets before feeding. It would just be one soft mess. Having the bellies blow up reminds me of an urban legend. Some people say you shouldn't throw rice at weddings. It is believed that the uncooked rice that is eaten by birds will expand in their stomaches causing the birds to explode. It just doesn't happen. The Doctor.

I remeber hearing about it when that guy bread pacman cats. He had a small die-off once he switched to pellets because of it, but those were fry.
