Ehhhhhh. I say that bc I'm getting old, and hate this crap that America is putting out. Too whiney. Alot of those bands listed are metalcoreish. Which I loath.

When I think of prog, I think of Symphony X, Dream Theater, Ayreon, Devin Townsend, Andromeda, etc.

If it has more than one or two breakdowns per song I lose interest. I've had to sit through soooo many hardcore acts at metal shows. They're boring and all of them pretty much sound exactly the same.

Out of curiosity...what do you mean by hardcore? Deathcore bands like emmure, acacia strain, suicide silence...etc? Lately i hear "hardcore" a lot when referring to bands like that, which tour with metal bands. It doesn't make sense to me, as hardcore is its own genre. Well it has sub genres like hardcore punk, but still. I don't think of brees, growls, and chugging breakdowns when i hear "hardcore."

I hear ya brother. I like the new LoG but, other than that everything I've bought, like 2 cd's a month, has all been european black metal. Susperia, Entombed, Dimmu, Daath, Hypocrisy(actually going to see them in a month).
