if you are interested in where all your black metal bands got inspiration check out the first 4 bathory albums and if you want to go even further the first 4 venom albums as they were pretty much the first full -on black/thrash/death band.

I am well aware of the roots of my black/death metal, and I am also not just limited to black metal.


Yes, Bathory and Venom are amazing, and they did contribute a lot to the scene, as well as Hellhammer, Mayhem, Burzum, Dark Throne, Rotting Christ, etc. Quorthon has always been one of my favorite musicians.

Gamma Bomb
White Wizzard

I'll post some more YouTube of non-death metal that's floating around right now in a bit...Lich King is at the top of my playlist right now, can't get enough of it.
 
Also, for some of you who weren't around for it. Thrash metal was actually called Death metal back in the day - up until Morbid Angel hit the scene if I remember right. Possessed helped to start forming it over to the other - but Thrash metal wasn't really coined until the late 80's.

Just got back from the Concert. Dethklok freakin rocked again. Mastodon was pretty awesome. They played most of their new stuff. It was a little different. High On Fire played too. They were better than I expected. Converge SUCKED baaad. lol I got a bunch of video I'll try and get up.
 
just listened to the lich king track-sounds like old M.O.D or S.O.D good though-made an old man think of when he was 18 ahhhhh.
also evile sounds like EXODUS-any connection?
