last night i heard a strange sound but was so tired i fell asleep. this monring i woke up and the lid of my tank was in the tank and my 12 inch oscar wa son the ground... dead. I am actually pretty upset bout this he was only a year and half old and i had him since he was half inch long. I want to make him into a skeleton but when i tried before it did not work i feel so bad for not checkin what the noise was last night he would be alive today if i had of checked. The noise was downstairs so it hought it wa smy cat messin around. I feel horrible and do not want any other oscar but him. I still dont know how he knocked the lid into the water its really heavy. He weighed one pound. My jack dempsey looks lost without him i really feel bad.

Damn I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you'll be able to get another Oscar and get that same feeling again w/ your previous one.

I had a similar event happen to me several years ago when my roommates aro jumped out of the tank knocking off the lid. Luckily, I heard it and went down stairs to find the aro struggling. I was able to save him.

That event brought awareness to me to always check any of my tanks if I hear anything that resembles a lid popping off.

well, the loss wasnt a good thing but it did make room for my grown out sun catfish to move to the tank. My tanks in my signiture are different now i just dont know how to change it my biggest tank then was a 55. I hope my catfish can adapt well and the tank still be as entertaining as it was with "diesel" my big oscar:( I think im goin back on the skeleton idea i always screw it up and now i hate to screw it up because this guy means alot to me. Any tips on it or should i ditch that idea.
