sitting upright on carpet may not have helped your case much. i hear its best to have them on their sides for cooling reasons. either way that sucks sorry to hear it.

It's only been on carpet a week. My gf rearranged the entertainment. I have always kept in on its side in a backless tv stand for cooling reasons.
i dont think anybody really knows why they do it. cooling just seems like the most logical to me.

my friend's cousin was able to do a DIY fan set up and worked a lot better.
I saw someone moded their PS3 with that Liquid cooling thing maybe you could do the same for the Xbox

Yea a buddy of mine's dad ripped open his xbox after he got the red ring and they way that they setup everything doesn't give the cpu anywhere to breath.
