You can get estes through your lfs. They specialize in aquarium rock. I bet you can't wait for the new tank. Do you already have plans on it's tank mates? Are the retics going in there? I sent you an email.

Isn't that a bit much, I use 1-2 lbs per 100 gallons.

Yeah 1-2 normally. 3-4 During problomatic times........ It wouldn't sound like too much if it was Mike telling you rather than me.......... :nilly:

Just for the record, that would seem high to me coming from anyone. Not to say it is wrong; just... high.

Yup.... Drastic times call for drastic measures. It has been PROVEN time and time again by people that have rays that cost more than I make in a YEAR. I don't think they are going to jeopordize these animals....... Waterchanges everyday sounds HIGH too........ Prices of stingrays are high....... Lots of things in the word of rays are high........ But the people that decided 4lbs/100 gallons are NOT.

Again, it does seem rather high to me. I tend to dose salt on just a bit to the lower side, but that is just what I feel comfortable with. If things escalate, or the full-on, around-the-disc curl comes back I may just add a large amount of salt.

You do bring up some really good points; I just tend to be a bit cautious with the rays, but that may pass in time.

1 lbs per 100 gallons as tonic.... 2-3 pounds for minor WTF and serious WTF 3-4 lbs.... disolve all salt very well and mike advices half one day next day other half.... me this takes too long so i just dose it all right away....

Yup it'll pass. Some people just have to loose some before they understand..... Some people listen to the advice.

Goes back to that saying.... "You could get a good look at a steak by sticking your head up a cows arse but wouldn't you rather take a butcher's word for it?"

You can kill them yourself or take advice from people who allready have..... Not referring to your Retics, just rays in general.

I may sound a little harsh but I'm just being honest..... Not trying to be rude or disrespectfull in any way shape or form so please don't take it that way...... Just trying to get the point across.... Most all of us offering advice are doing so, so that you do NOT have to go through what we've been through...... We've learned from mistakes..... Point is you don't have to loose any rays to learn from our mistakes if you listen. The salt thing is not up for debate. It IS proven.

I'm not saying my advice is any good but I have been keeping these things for over 5 years and I have killed plenty, and in turn have learned a lot.

I can really appreciate your approach, Nic. I'm a bit more tender about it, but I'm sure I can draw valuable ideas from your style of raykeeping (for instance, cycling the tank and, along with the advice from Miles, acclimation).
