I have seen G's in the Bronx Zoo in excess of 20" easy. Plus they are aggressive and territorial when larger, not to mention active.

Guys, let's keep it civilized...it would be a shame if this thread was closed.

agreed. this could be a nice debate thread.

Well its not going to be a debate thread,,
This thread was supposed to be about my fish pics not about how big my fish will get... I am well aware of that. I have some where for them to go when they outgrow it.
If you don't like how I stock my 150, don't post simple as that!

yea plus i have gotten bant recently talking with yanks so i wouldnt wanna do that again

but if you know then why are you getting fish that you cant take care of ?

Giant Gourami
''The biggest one caught on a hook and line in Indonesian waters weighed 15 kilos (33 pounds). Do not expect yours to grow this large. Even public aquaria can’t grow them this big. If you have lots of room and lots of time, you can expect foot-longers. Add another five years and you’ll get 15 to 18 inchers.''
Just out of curiosity, Where are you getting your information from?

yanker, we're trying to help you and your fish. not attacking you, as bottomfeeder said. we like your fish and we want them to be happy and healthy, even if it means returning them.

But we are trying simply to help you along. And if the place for them to go is a 300g, that is just a quick fix.

I cannot stress enough that i am not trying to insult you, or make you feel bad or insuperior. I am simply looking out for the best interests of you and your fish, as are Plec123 and ryeguy. Please, if anything, consider what we have said. No one is trying to steer you wrong.

Yes I understand that... but why worry now since they are babies??
300 gallons and then a pond will be fine for their whole lives.

They will grow. And theyw ill grow quite quickly with good water, good temperature, and food intake. Unfortunately as hey grow, the first of those parameters will suffer...
What is this pond, how big? And is it heated?

SIGH......... you never mentioned a pond. by mentioning a pond, this debate / arguement / whatever you wanna call it could have been avoided.

so whose pond is it?
