i've heard the term stable and unstable dats... what does this exactly mean?:/

i;ve also heard that dats are really shy.... but my new IT doesn't seem to be that way. he eats A LOT of guppies and Blood worms. He also swims around the tank. he has 2 pieces of wood and a Pot to hide on. but he usually prefers to swim outside.... would u consider him stable?

Stable refers to the dats ability to hold on to its gold/yellow color instead of turning black.

For example a 100% stable dat is yellow and black at all times while a 50% stable dat is black half of the time and yellow half of the time.

I personally believe stability has to do with aggression and water quality; particularly nitrates. When my Indo goes unstable I know its time to do a water change!

JD is right. It has to do with the colors, however I believe it refers more to the bars then it does the yellow. A "stable" Datnoid has deep black bars that dont fade.

define perfect and that is stable ;) nice lil ST dixon

that indo is pretty stable though and very nice as well
