in my opinion no I would not keep a del in a 55g I would say 75g min but im not saying sell him just because I think its too small. I think that some times on MFK we get opinion and fact mixed up I think that as long as he is healthy and you dont over stock its ok it might not be ideal but if it works it works he might not reach 12-14" like some that are kept in bigger tanks but as long as he is healthy it should be fine
I’ve made an executive decisio. Once he reaches 10”, I am selling him Or giving him away. I do not want to put such a graceful and beautiful animal in a 4 body length space
I would try. They get to a similar size to delzs, come from the same environment, and nobody on here has kept them. The info from you keeping them would be valuable.
well hingemouths are a lot more complicated than bichirs and in my opinion not suited for beginners their diet is some what difficult and in my opinion they are not like bichirs in behavior feeding or looks
they sift through mud looking for small insects and crustaceans and other stuff they ca eat hens the name mud fish and in captivity they can eat blood worm and other small live foods which may be hard to provide depending on were you live and from what I can find they need to eat small amounts frequently like a African arowana
