Does anyone notice this and know if its a species or random individual characteristic? For example, the palmas bichir seems to have less spine finlets than the delhezi, and is not as close to the head as the delhezi from google images. As in, there is more space from the skull to the first spine finlet on the palmas than the delhezi and less in number as well.

Upper jaws typically have less finlets and some will begins further away from their head, i.e. palmas palmas, beutikofferi, teugelsi, Senegal, delhezi, Moke, and the two larger UJ specie ornate & weeksii.

The remaining will be larger growing lower jaw (LJ). Which will have more and thicker finlets closer to their head.

It really depends on the specie or individual, delhezi imo have more finlets than palmas polli, same thing in ornate that has more finlets than senegal or a moke. Weeksii and teug in not really sure on their finlets since i dont have does species before. Retro has less finlets than delhezi too.
