As read in introduction thread, I have a tank currently occupied by 1 rope eel, 1 pleco and a silver arowana. The silver's got to go, he'll probably be picked up by someone with a lot of carnivorous fish this weekend. He can give the fish a better home, and we're not to worry about our son getting bitten anymore. Allthough I will miss him
Now, a rope eel and a pleco. That's a pretty empty tank... I was thinking of getting some more rope eels, since they tend to get along with other rope eels quite well. The fish store, however, also has a polypterus delhezi.
Not having any experience with polypterus species, I'm worried we might end up with another agressive fish. Also, browsing the internet didn't give me that much information. Loads of websites were quite contradictive. So I have a couple of questions for you before I buy the fish in a rush and end up having to give it away again
How big does it get?
Is it generally agressive
- towards others of his own kind?
- towards other fish?
- towards humans (snapping fingers etc)?
Is it a good idea to put it with a couple of rope eels?
Are there any suggestions on other fish I can put in?
Any requirements on tank decoration? Plants? Hideouts?
It'll be housed in a 200 litre tank.
As the title said: to buy? or not to buy?
