Okay so around 8 months ago i bought a delhezi at around 3'' mabye 3.5'' i got it in the tank its ate right away no problems around a month later still no problems but it hadn't grown at all same each month after that now its been 8 months and its grown to 4'' includeing its tail fin i don't know what i'm doing wrong

Its in a 10 gallon to grow out so i can put it in a larger tank i feed it: Bloodworms, fish fillets, shrimp, kirll and earth worms i do around a 40% water change every week water Params are great all the fish includeing the delhezi are totally healthy tank makes are: 2 bolivian rams 1.5'' 1 african leaffish 1''-1.5'' and now a senegal at 2''-3''

Filtration is a powerfilter made for a 20 gallon tank ( can't remember the brand off the top of my head ) and an under gravel filter with an air pump ment for a 30 gallon tank

Any ideas i stumped its grown mabye .5'' in 8 months another member who bought a delhezi around the same time from the same place has had ALOT more growth out of his

genetics some grow faster than others and CB(captive breds) seem to grow slower

you got all this in a ten :2 bolivian rams 1.5'' 1 african leaffish 1''-1.5'' and now a senegal at 2''-3'' along with the del?

Soon i will have a few more tanks to space everyone out and the 2 bichirs will either get there own 10 or be moved to a 29

Yeah its a little over stocked the params are all ways good nitrates get to aroud 40 at the end of the week when i feed to much but usually they stay under 30 amonia is all ways zero and nitrites have never gotten above 5 and when they were close to 5 it was after a vacation when they were over feed by there care taker and didn't get a water change for 10 days i'm gonna move the 2 bichirs and the leaffish to another 10 soon however because i'm sick of the Del being so tiny

I'm pretty sure they were captive breed as it doesn't have a very good pattern and there were adout 20 or so all at the same size

They can grow pretty slow. A 10g with a filter meant for a 20g isn't that much IMO. You can probably go bigger on the filter.

my one from there never grew either. they are definitely captive-bred. mine was in an "overfiltered" 20 gal with one other fish and never grew.

i would be getting very impatient at this point, too. I would try to find a bigger WC one and sell it. I don't think FP has any more, but they'll probably order one for you.

Yup.. try and get a bigger tank. Genetics is something to consider as well. In a ten gallon, its very tight so there's really no room to swim, let alone grow. Length and width, no so much height of a tank is very important. I would at least get a 40gal wide (36"x18") or a 50gal wide (48"x18") for your current stock.

I generally growout 1 bichir at a time in a ten and thats the only occupant in the tank.If you want to growout more than 1 at a time use either a 30 gallon or a 20 long-Anne

i use a 135 for my grow out tank and i agree with Beblondie that the wild dels grow much faster. My wild dels are growing twice as fast as my cb dels.
