how did i know somone would say that, great thanks,

its really the end all answer to every post here,,
Too bad for you if you don't believe me. Just ask anyone else. Your pair are fighting because of the tank size.

they are a new couple they will have issues. and IMO a 55 is plenty for a pair of JD's (i have bred bigger pairs in 40breeders). put some pots and tubes for her to escape in. wood works, line of sight breakages help also. there is always the divider for them to get better used to sight and smell (or w/e they do), each other.

also be certain they are of proper sexes too. i trust your judgment :)

If you had been ion your own home for long time then suddleny someone appears out of the blue, you might want to get to know them, if things dont work out, you start fighting. Same situation here.

I would think a 55 is a good sized tank for a breeding pair of JD's at that size......Have to agree with what FishFreak said on this one.

certainly a 55 is big enough for a pair of jd's that size. I see no reason why it wouldn't be, they're jsut getting used to each other and you should put some hiding spots in for your female and keep and eye on the so one doesn't beat the other to death. You may continue to have issues as they get bigger, but for right now I don't see why the tank size would be affecting it, other than your male has already claimed the whole thing.

Maybe if you took him out for a few days and put him in a different tank, then put him back after the female was already in there is would help. Just MPO...
