dent in forehead

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had one come in from a terrible dealer on aquabid with a dent in the forehead and showing pelvic bones, he did recover eventually. He also wasnt eating for about a week after i got him, finally got him eating with live blackworms but he did refuse even them for a while. I get my blackworms from aquaticfoods.com If you call them up in the morning they might be able to get you some by tuesday. Good luck.

I'm confused. In your other thread asking about stingray curl, you posted pics of your ray. Does look like a nasty burn or other physical wound, but that is not a skinny ray. You've had it for several months now and it hasn't eaten? Or it hasn't eaten since the heater burn?

Believe he said in his other thread that is stopped eating after it got burned. Its been 3 weeks now from what I understand since it was burned and has not eaten.

SCB--- have you removed the rocks from the bottom of the tank? If I was you, Id run a bare bottom tank and help him relax some so he is not rubbing this wound on the rocks...

You say the ray is staying by the heater I hope you have a heater guard on the heater now

You have mentioned a long list of food you have tryed but I don't see earth worms on that list

You also say the dent wasn't their yesterday and you only noticed it today well the dent is not something that just appears over night it takes a long time to start showing

ya i fed him earth worms but he won't eat it, i have spent close to 60 dollars on food tryin to get him to eat, and the rocks i didn't take out cause someone said it would be bad for me to take them out cause it would be like starting a new tank up again, i don't wanna loose my other ray, the dent wasn't there the other day and the next night i noticed it, and i have kept a close eye on him and i didn't see the dent less it was small and then got bigger, iam just gonna give up on him now, no more buying food or tryin, if he lives it will make my day, but if he dies i will be pissed but nothin i can do i was gonna pull him out and let him die, but someone said to put him down with clove oil so thats what i prob will do, i hate to do this cause i care about him but iam tired of being stressed out over him and the money

Don't just kill him to be done with it, he may eventually start eating on his own, that ray is by no means certain to die at this point. If nothing else just leave him in the tank and see if he starts eating eventually or dies naturally.

As far as the rocks you could try and clear part of your tank of rocks, moving them from one side to the other, that way your tank wont cycle and you can give him some bare bottom space. If the rocks are causing him pain he would stay on the bare bottom area of your tank.

You shouldn't be keeping any fish after some of the things you said in your last post

Maybe someone should take you out

this is part of fish keeping sometimes. dont put the ray down, just see if he makes it at least, pleace dont kill it yet. or ill drive on over an pic him up. just keep ur fingers crosses. hope for the best, if he dies he dies. i have seen rays die from less an seen rays come back from worse

for one thing i wasn't tryin to be mean, thats y i asked what to do if i should take him out or use clove oil, ur not here, u don't know how bad he is, hes on his third week without eating ur not spending the money i don't have right now, plus u must not know how to read cause i said in my last post that i didn't want to do it cause i care about him, and i i was just told to pick him up and force feed him and guess what thats what iam gonna do, if i didn't care then i wouldn't be taking the chance of being stung

ty usmctanker iam really tryin iam not gonna put him down, iam gonna catch him and wrap his tail up and try to force feed him, i hope this works
