Dent in the forehead of my ray--- but not from being skinny?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am also clueless, just killed more rays in more ways than most of you guys!
:(

med...Panacur probably.
I have killed some and saved some with Levamisole. With some meds it is important to keep your water hyper clean and pH neutral. Toxicity increases as pH lowers

If you've killed more then I'm sure you know more. :)

Still keeping any?

I know with every year that passes it gets harder and harder to justify. Guess some people have luck and sume just dont?

Not sure what a water company can/will test for but I have read that when you replace well pumps, like I did dec2011, that you need to disinfect well by adding chlorine. Because of aerobic or anaerobic bacteria. I would assume that this bacteria gets worse
Overtime an possibly could be harmful?? I never did this after replacing well pump.
I'm reaching here :)

I meant use a test for aquariums on your tank water and supply but contacting a specialist forthe well would be good too. I know quite a few people with wells had ammonia issues.

Probably wouldn't hurt to get your water tested, for your rays and your family. We had our well tested when we bought our house, but that was 9 years ago. When a well pump or line is replaced, it is recommened the well be chlorinated. I think this is more for human saftey as different bacteria (different from the bacteria that already live down there) can be introduced to the well. If this is the cause of the dent in the ray, I would think it would have shown up sooner.
Good luck and I hope he gets better.

Mike,

Last year I was building a home for my Grandfather on my property. The county made us get the well tested and sure enough it needed to be sanitized due to bacteria. The bacteria was called coliform I believe. It took three bleach treatments to get it to pass. THe bacteria didn't affect my rays but I'm not so sure how long it was there. I also use prime just in case there are any heavy metals in the water. The test was very inexpensive so it's worth doing. If you want to just sanitize the well just sure to wait about a week after you do it before doing any water changes. It seems like I smelled the bleach in the water for 3 or 4 days even though I ran hundreds of gallons through it. I then waited a couple more days and everything went fine with water changes. Hope this helps. Needless to say, I sanitize the well twice a year since it grossed me out so bad. It could very easily affect the digestive system of people so maybe rays too. Worth reading up on anyway.

All the best,
Todd
