Actually it is not the same penalty for attacking a police K9 as it is attacking an officer. And everyone is wasting their breath on this thread. Whats the point in arguing over this??? yes alot of people on here dont like police officers obviously and others support them. No one except the officer will know exactly what was going on and we dont know the details of the incident they were investigating. Believe me the media will intentionally twist the truth to get this sort of reaction, they have done it on calls i have handled as an officer.

it is a shame animals do have to suffer for the consequences of their natural instincts sometimes such as protecting their property, but I would rather my own dog (who is my partner) be killed in order to preserve the well being of a human being. And for all the haters out there, yes there are bad cops out there and I have worked beside them before, but the majority of us are out there to help people and to make your neighborhoods safer for you and your family so that you dont have to worry about it.

Some good and valid points there, and in your next post.

Where you guys loose, imho, is when you start acting defensively and calling everybody else "police haters"

Nobody here hates police officers. Their ( yours ) job is well respected and appreciated, BUT its exercise is not above criticism.

edit*: killed or harmed, i realize the dog survived

...Does a cop stop and think that there is a dog in the yard after supposedly being warned? Anticipate having to use deadly force? Figure out if potentially killing something very important to someone innocent is justified in the specific situation?

that would require cops to think. Many do, but MANY do not.

Great perspective Rybo, there are those that seem to understand what you and those in your profession must go through. Then their seem to be those that have just a bad opinion of all of you, based on a few instances.

typical..........

Just as your response is typical.

I respect and like cops from just about everywhere except here. The cops in this county SUCK. They have no common sense and this is not the first time something like this has happened. An ex-friend of mine was dealing coke out of her house with her son living there. I called to tell the cops they didn't even so much as drop by the house. Needless to say about a month or so later her son was found wandering the streets naked after being missing for 2 hours. If they would have investigated they would have found something was wrong, and would have taken the child. Maybe then he wouldn't have been missing and found wandering around with no clothes. Most of the cops in this area are power hungry morons who obviously don't even know how to shoot correctly.

However, go to the county just south of where I am and it is a different story. The cops there have helped me out plenty of times. I respect them a lot as well as cops I have encountered in other parts of the US but the cops in this county are horrible.

Allright, everyone has had their say.

This is not a police bashing thread.
