That's a lazy person's excuse which only serves to perpetuate bad behaviors. With less attempts at using proper spelling and grammar the chances of being misunderstood increases. Eventually reaching a point where the subject is lost in the confusion of being forced to transpose and parse the poorly written text to render it understandable.

I think you're reaching a bit. maybe to some, getting their message across is just more important than caring about a misspell or grammar. because as said, it's a damn internet forum where you talk to strangers. I admit, I understand how annoying it can be. but what's more annoying is the spelling and grammar police to be honest.

a lot of times, people will correct others just to make others look bad and in turn make them look better. just look at the post above me

I guess as a college edumacated Teacher, spelling "grammer" correctly isn't important tho...

LOL, sorry just had to take a break from taking shots at the kid.

Yea mines not the greatest either but I'm not trying nor do I care. What I type out can atleast be understodd tho. Could also use the excuse that I have a physical education degree so as long as I can spell ball I'm fine.lol

First reprimands kid for not trying, then uses same excuse, LOL

LMAO @ only spelling ball...

Its just the way things are. I work a job that I feel takes away everything I got from school. This isn't the first time the OP has gotten responses like this about his spelling. I agree that yes its a forum and who cares but there's a thin line.

Well lost my job after my first year due to cuts. Haven't had any luck the past 5 years getting another teaching job. I'm just glad I have a job. I think the op needs to realize the school is trying to help rather than punish.

I'm not trying to be the spelling and grammar police. Fact is I miss occassionally, too. But, when I see it this bad I have to try to relate the importance of being fully understood. Here we have someone who's 'forced' into a 90 minute self-study and instead of looking to improve his written communication skills is instead happier to sit back and complain about the situation. I work 50-80 hour work weeks. I'd pay real $ to be able to get a regular 90 minute period to just kick back and read.
Not trying to make anyone feel bad. I have a teenager at home who felt the same way until we chanced upon a genre of novels that peaked his interest. Since then, he's been steadily improving in his reading and writing skills. And in the process, broadening his scope of knowledge. That's all I wish for anyone.

well you called me lazy for not agreeing with you and the thing that got me was, a lot of people jumped on the kid and made assumptions. sounds like he may even moved from another country where English isn't his first language. that's all speculation on my part too but the point is I didn't jump to a conclusion. i'd be very offended and feel bad if I were him and came to the US not long ago.

That was a misrepresentation on my part. I was in no way calling you lazy. I called the excuse lazy. Some people on the site know this but, I figure it's been lost in buried posts. English is my second language. I didn't start learning the language until I was 8. I had some difficulties with the language when I started out. However, if english is a second language for the OP, that 90 minutes can do wonders on improvements.
